We all know that the pandemic has affected people physically and financially. In 2020, we handed out approximately 3,000 food parcels, which contained staple ingredients including mealie meal, tinned food and oil. In 2021, the number of parcels dropped to 1,400 but this does not mean fewer people have been fed. Instead, we have introduced food vouchers. Recipients can redeem these vouchers at any Shoprite or Checkers store. The feeding schemes, including our soup kitchens, continue in the greater Johannesburg and more recently, Eastern Karoo regions.
